Gary,
Received the helmet today, and it looks fantastic! Really happy with it, and once I put in the original liner and liner strap I have, it really looks sharp. Thanks again.

Yesterday, my family and I presented a 3/506th Co. G Veteran who is a very dear and close friend of ours with a WWII campaign tribute helmet. This helmet was created by Gary Underhill, and without question, is absolutely amazing. Gary really takes the time to create something unique and memorable. I cannot say enough about his work, and more importantly, his character and integrity - two words that seem to be lost amongst most people nowadays. Thanks again Gary!

Gary, I received my 2nd Ranger helmet today and I was jaw-dropping-pleased with the results. The corking job is amazing and is hands down the best I've seen on reproduction WWII helmets. It feels good to put my faith in a vendor and have them come 100% through for me. Not only do you provided the most friendly service that I've experienced but your products go above and beyond a customer's expectations. You can expect more business from me now that I've seen first hand that other helmets just don't compare.

Thanks for everything and thanks for a great helmet.

Gary,
I got the paratrooper liner today. Not only am I more than pleased at the quicker than expected delivery, I am once again greatly impressed by the product you have sent me. The liner is superb, and looks positively authentic and is so well built. AND, I'm curious, is the brimstrap you put on it original? Beacuse it sure appears to be! However, original or not, it is still great.
Once again you have astounded me with your work and you go ahead and add another happy customer to your list.
Keep up the good work,
Charles W.

Dear Gary,

I received the helmet today. I cannot thank-you enough for all you have done. It looks wonderful! I am sure that it is exactly what my father would have wanted done with it. I will be proud to pass it on to his grandchildren when the time comes.
If I can ever be of service to you in any way, it would be my duty to help you. I am in your debt.
Thank-you again and I hope to thank-you in person some day.

Sir,

I received my helmet today. I couldn't wait till I got home to open it so I did it there in the office. Very quickly I had 23 Marines standing around me drooling over this beautiful helmet. Each took a turn putting it on. They were amazed when I told them the particulars of the shell and the net. I bought it to help me teach but I didn't expect that I'd get the opportunity so quickly, and to active duty Marines. I expected a lot and was still surprised. It is incredible!!! The jungle cammo liner is perfect. The helmet cover makes it look like it just came off Peleliu in '44. Thank you for doing such an outstanding job! I have no doubt I will buy several more helmets in the future.

I received the chinstraps Friday and sewed them on. They look absolutely wonderful and perfect in every way. I definitely am classified as a happy customer who will do business with you again. You will be happy to know that at my tactical event this past weekend I had several people comment on my chinstraps and I was ever so proud to say "Thank you, they’re made by Lawdog Steel Helmets". I proceeded to tell them about you and your business as they examined and commented on the exactness of the construction. Thank you and I will keep in touch with you in the future for later work.”
A happy customer,
A. Lawrence

Lawdog Steel Helmets produces a wonderful replica. The attention to detail and the accuracy of the reproduction is incredible. Weathering and insignia duplication creates a helmet that looks like it came out off the battlefield yesterday. In comparison to high priced originals, Lawdog Steel Helmets are affordable and will be a welcome addition to your collection or in your reenacting plans. Lawdog Steel Helmets are quickly becoming the standard by which other helmets will be judged. Gary is easy to work with and will do everything he can to produce a product that will make you happy.”

The following testimonial was received from the wife of a 45th Infantry Division WW2 veteran who was wounded at Anzio, when a chunk of German shrapnel took off the front of his helmet.

We just wanted you to know how thrilled John was when he opened the package and found the helmet inside. Tears came to his eyes and I regret not having film in the camera at the time. He is amazed at how exact the helmet is in every detail. The stenciled Thunderbird insignia, and the PFC stripe was the icing on the cake. The helmet has a special place in the family room. Your labor of love shows in your work. We are grateful to you for your thoughtfulness. May you continue in your beautiful work for many years.”

Gary,
I received the helmet today and it really looks great! The color, texture and the insignia were perfect. The detail, from the liner, to the chinstraps, were all done with care and authenticity. I will recommend you to the rest of my re-enactment unit.
Thanks again. Great job!

Hi Gary:
Just wanted to say thank you for all the assistance you gave me in regard to the Vesicant painted helmet.  I was apprehensive at first about even diving into something that was not "actually there", but after losing out on what appeared to be genuine articles on e-bay time and time again I decided to take the plunge.  You made the decision that much easier by providing me with the names of reference materials and you also took the time to explain the level of detail and care you put into each and every piece you work on.  All of this was evident when I opened the box today and pulled out my first LAWDOG Steel Helmet.  The camo pattern is right on the money.
As if I weren't happy enough I dug a little further in the box and pulled out the liner marked with rank and the unit insignia of the 505th PIR. Using actual WWII dated paint (aged to what I think is perfection) really tops everything off.  I usually don't care too much about the liners as I just sit them in the steel pot and forget them, but crazy as it sounds I actually (temporarily - I think) removed my German M38 para helmet from its display stand to put the M1C liner in its place.  The attention to every detail on the liner just jumps right out and I certainly do not regret having these Lawdog's sit up right next to my high-priced originals.  In fact the Vesicant camo pattern seems to liven up the bunch.

Thanks again.

Owner of 5 Lawdog steel helmets!

Gary helped me with two Paratrooper helmets I was working on. He was great with very fast replies to my e-mails and very helpful and assured 100% satisfaction that I completely received. He was able to handle my specific request, and was very knowledgeable about what he does. I received my package exactly as expected and it helped me create a great final product. If I ever needed any help on anything to do with helmets I know where to go.

Mr. Underhill,
The mail just got here and so did your package. Wow! It looks great; just as I had imagined! The re-cork and the paint look wonderful. Thanks so much again for the bar tack job on the chinstraps, it was certainly worth sending them to you so you could do that job. Also, thanks for the helmet net. It was very kind of you to include that, and it will look great on the helmet. Thanks again for everything and Best Wishes!

Dear Gary,

The helmets arrived safely today. (What  great packing job you did). I just finished unloading them and showing them to my wife. You did a great job on all of them, but my favorites are the NCDU (Naval Combat Demolitions Unit) and the 505th PIR with vesicant camo. Thanks for the superb work! I know where I'll go from now on to re-furbish my helmets.

 Gary,

The helmets got here today. They are fantastic! The medic helemt is unreal! The airborne M1C was beyond my expectation. I am so pleased. Thank you very much.

Hi, Gary,

Just thought I would let you know that the 34th Div unit painted shell arrived yesterday. When I opened the box, I was blown away! It is an absolutely first class job. That aging process of yours is unbelievable and better than anything I've seen. You truly are a master craftsman. Needless to say, I am more than happy. You were right about the chinstraps, they look spot-on. Most of the repro chinstraps on the market are far too khaki. Yours are the best color match I've come across. If it's ok, I would like to send you my shell wirth the post war repaint. It has been done with the sand mixed paint, and just does'nt look right. It would well be worth the postage costs after seeing the work you do.

All the best,

R. King (United Kingdom)

Gary,

What a beautiful helmet and liner! (Original Schlueter fixed bale with original finish, and an LDSH Inland para liner) You are a gentleman and a master craftsman. This helmet will be with me, my daughter, and her family for a very long time.

Than you,

F. Shray

 Gary,

Received great comments, here in the ranch office, on the Ardennes medic helmet. I had it sitting on my desk, prior to placing it on display at home. My football player son was amazed, not only in the quality of your work, but also how much it weighed compared to athletic headgear. That opened the conversation to the usual neck aches we all experienced getting used to our new helmets in bootcamp, and the fact that a military helmet was designed to protect one from more than a tackle. Your workmanship is superb!

Thanks,

B. Tracy
